Kalyan provides advice and support for UK organisations interested in applying into the European programme in Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials. Prior to joining Innovate UK Kalyan worked for a Singaporean based technology Incubator and an Innovation Fund. His primary role was to evaluate a number of projects from technical, financial and business planning perspectives. He also worked closely with the senior management team to develop the company’s strategy; and help build a portfolio of 5 early stage companies in field of healthcare biotechnology. In this role Kalyan also worked extensively with a range of strategic investors from Singapore, the USA and China.
In 2012, Kalyan started his own company based on the technology he developed as part of his PhD research. During this time, he successfully oversaw the transfer this technology from Cambridge University’s lab to the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech). Kalyan has a bachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics engineering from the university of Madras, and a PhD in Biomaterials from the University of Cambridge. Outside of work, Kalyan also acts as an external guide to support two Cambridge University MPhil projects on investment and innovation related issues in nanotechnology. Kalyan enjoys hiking and reading historical books.
