Dr Rob Deffley has a Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, and a PhD in Additive Manufacturing (AM) of nickel alloys, both gained at The University of Sheffield.
Rob joined LPW in 2010 as Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate, linking the AM research he was undertaking at Sheffield with practical implementation in manufacturing and engineering environments. Rob’s initial work in powder manufacturing has involved extensive powder testing, alloy optimisation and powder specification development. Rob has a wealth of experience with both Laser/electron-beam Powder Bed Fusion and Directed Energy Deposition AM processes.
Now LPW’s Research & Development Manager, Rob has worked closely with LPW’s expanding, international commercial team to offer technical support and manages a broad portfolio of AM metal powder projects across the UK and Europe.
